The successful candidate will support and assist the Depot Teams by organising and managing specific elements of the transport function so that the depot targets are met in such a manner as to provide the best possible service to our retailers and customers through continuous improvement and engagement. The main responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
What you'll be doing
- Assist the Transport and Warehouse teams in delivering network targets.
- Manage, motivate, and engage the transport team to deliver a best in class service to our customers.
- Deal with drivers, suppliers and stores on delivery and collection queries.
- Manage driver dispatch and debriefs.
- Monitor and assess KPI’s and where appropriate implement timely corrective action.
- Maintain aworking environment in line with Health & Safety, Food Safety & Quality legislation and ensure that employees are trained accordingly.
- Liaise with other departments to ensure that product delivery meets deadline.
- Maintain and improve the depot standards focusing on the engagement and continuous improvement models.
What we're looking for:
Suitable applicants will possess all or most of the following:
Essential:
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Experience of managing in a busy transport department in a high volume/turnover business.
- Good organisational and administration skills with the ability to solve problems in a fast-moving environment.
- High level of computer literacy.
- Ability to interpret and analyse data.
- Thorough knowledge of distribution operations including specific processes such as H&S and HACCP etc.
- Knowledge of Road Transport Legislation.
- Customer focused and driven.
- Excellent communication and people management skills.
- Experience in a logistics business which has multiple weekly deliveries.
Desirable:
- The ideal candidate should be a team player, be flexible and have the ability to maintain focused whilst under pressure.
- Have the ability to work on your own initiative, be self-motivated and have a consistent work methodology.
- Experience in a similar type role or in a position that demonstrates the above skills will be an advantage.
- Category C driving licence
