As we continue our journey toward becoming Ireland’s most trusted and sustainable business, we have an exciting opportunity for a successful candidate to join our team as Data Governance and Operating Model Lead.

As Data Governance & Operating Model Lead, you will play a key role in establishing and scaling Musgrave’s enterprise data governance capability. 

You will define and embed the data governance framework, operating model, and data ownership structures required to ensure that data is consistently managed, trusted, and effectively used across the organisation. 

Working closely with business, analytics, and technology teams, you will drive the adoption of data ownership and stewardship across domains, integrating governance into key transformation programmes and business processes. 

This role reports into the Head of Data Governance, in the IT division and the role can be based in Dublin or Cork.

What you'll be doing

  • Define and evolve Musgrave’s data governance framework and operating model, aligned to enterprise strategy 

  • Establish and embed data ownership, stewardship, and accountability across business domains 

  • Lead the design and rollout of a federated data governance model across the organisation 

  • Embed governance into key business and technology transformation programmes and delivery processes 

  • Establish and coordinate data governance forums to lead cross-functional alignment and decision-making 

  • Partner with business, analytics, and technology teams to ensure governance is integrated into everyday workflows and operations 

  • Partner with the data integration team to align data ownership and governance principles with integration design and data movement 

  • Enable and support adoption of data governance practices, including data standards, policies, and ways of working 

  • Define, track, and report metrics to measure governance maturity, adoption, and business value 

  • Support the development of data fluency and promote a culture of data ownership and accountability

What we're looking for

  • Experience in data governance, data management, operating model design, or risk management 

  • Experience leading or contributing to the development of enterprise-level data capabilities or initiatives 

  • Proven ability to define and implement governance frameworks in complex, cross-functional environments 

  • Understanding of data ownership, stewardship, and federated governance models 

  • Experience embedding data governance into programmes, delivery processes, or transformation initiatives 

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence across business, analytics, and technology teams 

  • Communication and leadership skills, with the ability to drive adoption and behavioural change 

  • Understanding of modern data platforms (e.g. Azure DevOps, Microsoft Fabric & Purview, Databricks) and the role of governance in enabling analytics and AI 

  • Experience in retail, FMCG, or complex operational environments is desirable
